NEW YORK, Oct. 22, 2004 – T-Rex Capital, LLC, today announced the acquisition of a
281,000 square-foot data center and office complex in Aurora, Colorado, about 20 miles
from the Denver International Airport.
The three-building complex, located at 11900 East Cornell Avenue, Aurora, also includes a three-level, 168,000 square-foot parking garage for 422 cars plus adjacent surface parking for 226 cars. With sophisticated, redundant systems, the facility is considered robust for government or corporate data center purposes.
T-Rex is the owner, developer and operator of specialized commercial properties that satisfy the unique 24-hour operating demands of “mission critical” information technology users – primarily data and disaster recovery centers.
Thomas M. Mulroy, T-Rex Chief Executive Officer, said, “the acquisition in Aurora represents a continuation of a nationwide program we began in 1998 in response to the burgeoning demand for these facilities — a demand arising both from government and corporate America.”
The Aurora acquisition represents the company’s first move into Colorado. The purchase price was not disclosed.
“We were attracted to Aurora initially because of its reliance on the defense industry,” Mulroy said. “We continue to look at a number of communities nationwide with similar characteristics to identify other significant real estate acquisition opportunities.”
“The Aurora property was immediately of interest to us because of its extremely robust power supplies as well as the advanced telecommunications infrastructure, all interwoven with the existing data center,” he added.
Mulroy said the company anticipates interconnecting the Aurora property through a secure telecommunications network with other T-Rex properties located in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area.
