History

T-Rex Capital Group, LLC ("T-Rex") is a privately held real estate equity firm that was established in 1999 to capitalize on the inefficiencies in the United States real estate markets. T-Rex is comprised of both institutional and individual investors with key executives averaging over 25 years and more than $7 billion of investing and development experience. T-Rex is actively engaged in acquiring and developing properties to enhance their value through effective management and financial engineering.

T-Rex initially targeted the early telecommunication real estate markets. In 2000, T-Rex successfully merged with a public telecommunication company, but in 2001, T-Rex had the foresight to sell off its technology centers at the peak of the market. Subsequently, in 2002, T-Rex took itself private again as being private enabled the team to focus on investing in public and private debt and equity and developing real estate throughout the United States. Again, by 2006 the company exited the majority of its real estate investments, at another peak in the commercial real estate market.

T-Rex has always been a market-driven company driven by its research and understanding of rapidly changing market dynamics. A notable mission critical transaction included the T-Rex Technology Center, Manassas, VA, where T-Rex acquired, redeveloped, and managed a mission-critical government facility for the United States House & Senate through the architect of the Capital.

T-Rex takes great pride in its ability to seek out and capitalize on real estate opportunities in both expanding and contracting markets. T-Rex has been directly involved with the following notable transactions:

  • T-Rex Corporate Center, Boca Raton, Florida: One of the most technologically advanced properties in the U.S. encompassing 1.7 million sq. ft. on 530 acres.
  • Cityplace: 335,000 sq. ft. vertical retail mall in Silver Spring, Maryland.
  • Greensboro Corporate Center: Two office towers consisting of 450,000 sq. ft. in Tyson’s Corner, Virginia.

The site will likely receive enhanced zoning, enabling the development of up to 2 million sq. ft. with direct connections to the Tysons West Metro Station.
