By Mid-Hudson News Network

HYDE PARK, N.Y. – Construction of a 133-room hotel across U.S. Route 9 from the Culinary Institute of America will begin this spring now that the developer has received full approval from the town.

The Inn at Bellefield will be an extended-stay Marriott Residence Inn. It is expected to be completed in late 2019 or early 2020.

A second hotel also is planned for the 340-acre property. That would be a 125-to-150-room, 4- or 4.5-star establishment, according to developer Bellefield Development Partners LLC.

The two hotels, along with restaurants and retail shops, will cater to the 5 million annual tourists who come to Dutchess County, said Michael Oates, managing partner of Bellefield Development Partners.

“Everything from Walkway Over the Hudson to FDR’s Presidential Library, Vanderbilt [Mansion], Val-Lill.” Oates said. “We are right in the heart of that, and being located directly across the street from the [Culinary Institute], we will appeal to a lot of those culinary enthusiasts who want come up, want to be able to stay long, spend more money in the local community and visit and enjoy everything that Dutchess County and the Hudson Valley have to offer.”

The entire Bellefield at Historic Hyde Park development is expected to cost $500 million to build.
