BellSouth is negotiating for space in Boca Raton to house one of four South Florida sites for its Internet hub, the FloridaMIX.
A hub serves to connect major carriers to the Internet.
Most observers thought BellSouth would sign with the T-Rex Developers at T-Rex Technology Center, a “telecom hotel” and office complex in Boca Raton., Such building house tele-communications wiring and routing equipment.
But apparently BellSouth is looking elsewhere.
“Its not in the Blue Lake area or the T-Rex center. It’s close to it but it’s not there”, said spokesman Spero Canton. “(BellSouth executives aren’t) at a point where they want to talk about it. But no construction has to occur.”
Look for an announcement on the Palm Beach County site in the next two weeks. The hub is expected to open in two months.
